FOAM AND DIAMONDS :: Regular readers of TheGGN know well my appreciation for Paris Hilton. Love her or not – and I am always loving Paris Hilton – she’s a good lesson in not caring what anyone thinks. The latest result? Hilton has a one month residency any DJ would break classic wax for.

Until the end of August, Hilton is Amnesia Nightclub’s resident host DJ – in Ibiza. The. Motherland.

As for the club, Amnesia Ibiza has been a “Best Global Club” winner at the International Dance Music Awards and is a point of reference for the coveted Ibiza night-lifestyle.

I know, it begs the question: Why? Why is Paris getting a month residency, and not a far “greater” popular DJ/producer?

It gets better (or perhaps worse, depending on your point of view): Hilton’s much-teased sophomore album will soon drop; Amnesia is the perfect showcase and a way to build credibility. Ever the multi-hyphenate, the club’s Foam & Diamonds Wednesday night parties will also include a Paris Hilton pop-up store, featuring Hilton’s namesake line of fashionable handbags and accessories. Hilton will meet fans and personally present her collection of merchandise. If only I could afford to go!

Are you excited? Maybe not – but I bet if you were in Ibiza you would think about going – just because. And that’s what Paris gets for being a businesswoman and personality with what it takes to never listen to the masses. I adore Paris Hilton for the simple reason than she is simply herself right under the microscope of the world. We all know she comes from money, but there are plenty of rich people who can’t get it together enough to make a cup of coffee. I also don’t think she is the best DJ but she sure is this: one of the best at living by her own design.

And we can all take something away from that.

  1. People who are genuine are the ones who like their own company, like who they are without being snotty, and are comfortable in their own skin.
I’ve only recently learned at the ripe old age of 46, that other people’s perceptions create fear, anxiety and hatred toward ourselves, and to be really free of that fear, we need to have the courage to walk away, because in the end, it only hinders our progression of growth. It’s like having the mind of an 18 year old in the body of a 30 year old. That is a recipe for an early death, unless we choose to make big changes for ourselves, thus creating our lives to be abundant and progressive.
