Write For Us – Submission Guidelines

GGN, your gay guide to the good life, welcomes and loves new uplifting contributions from our ever-growing network of LGBT friends and allies.

Our community of readers are passionate about living well and focusing on what’s going right in the world. They aspire, they want to know how you are succeeding at living well, about the experience you’ve had they might learn from, they want to laugh and feel smart.

Writing for GGN gives you a chance to be part of this discussion, and shape the way being gay is perceived around the world.

Here’s what you need to know before contacting us:

1. Submit one post at a time in the body of your email message.

If you’re using Word, for example, paste the Word document into your email. Please do not contact us with a pitch or an idea. Your first email tp us should include a ready-to-publish post for our condiseration.

2. Word count

Posts run between 300-800 words. Please stay under 800 words.

3. Original Content

We prefer posts submitted be unique and original to GGN. We accept posts that have already been published or submitted elsewhere online or that you plan to distribute to other websites or print publications, however this should be clearly stated and explained fully.

4. Tone and other considerations.

GGN is your gay guide to the good lifePlease bear that sentence in mind. Our content is high-vibe, inclusive, accessible and positive, with a focus on better living, luxury lifestyle and personal empowerment. Our readers are busy – your work needs to grab their attention. Stories about successful living, relationships, spirituality, purpose, unique experiences, transformation, that offer encouragement, insight, thought provocation, advise and tips work best. No doomsayers, snark, sarcasm, rants, bitching, complaining.

If you want to write about queer news or politics, the LGBT movement, HIV/AIDS, what’s the positive slant? What’s the upside? If you want to write about problems, make sure you write about solutions. If you want to write about something horrible that happened to you, what is the takeaway for the reader? How does your contribution help guide them to better living? What problem does your post solve? How will reading it make someone’s life better? Are you offering actionable tips?

We love posts that help our readers grow and connect and feel good for having visited us. Take a look around and see what we’ve previously posted.

5. SEO-driven submissions will be immediately rejected.

If you work for a content farm or are a freelancer who writes articles for the sole purpose of linking up keywords in an effort to boost SEO, we are not interested. If your submission or bio references or promotes a business or service that is not in line with our previously stated philosophies, we are not interested.

6. Show Us Your Sources.

If you mention a stat or study please include a link to that source.

7. Photos.

You are encouraged to submit photos with your posts. Please only submit photos you own or have permission to use. They should be at least 800 pixels wide. Please provide photo credit information to be used.

8. Bio and promotion.

Since we do not compensate contributors for posts, we’re more than happy to include a byline and your brief bio containing links to your website, and social media accounts, which we will include when your post goes live. Please keep your bio to just 2-3 sentences. GGN is a great resource to promote what you’re doing and some contributors have leveraged their posts to further their career goals, and have appeared on other platforms owned and operated by our publisher, Shaun Proulx Media.

9. Once your posts go live, please share with your friends.

Via email, your website, Facebook, Twitter, and any other social media. We will do our best to ensure it reaches as many people as possible. If your post performs extremely well we can then consider regular contributions from you on GGN.

10. Expectations.

While we try our best, sometimes we don’t have the opportunity to respond to all submissions. We will not respond to emails without a ready-to-publish post (as detailed above). We do carefully read every single submission received. If your post has been accepted, we generally respond within 14 days.

By submitting to GGN you acknowledge that you accept these terms (and our site terms of use) and any form of editing that might occur by the GGN editorial team.

We look forward to reading your submission!
