Montreal is demographically and ethnically a much more stable city which does not attract hordes of disaffected youth and rude and boorish 3rd-world bumpkins where GLB folks can be safely “out” to their families and have ancestries there going back many generations:-
it’s a lot more like Aussie cities like Sydney and Melbourne in that way.

Toronto seems to be a dumping ground for every wacko-loser in Canada and from around the world.

Pride Toronto does a good job of attracting huge piles of corporate sponsorship money but its governance structure is very weak which makes it a routine target for hostile takeovers by non-gay radical groups such as QuAIA and more recently BLM-Toronto which is employing hoary old tactics straight out of the Radical-Hippie Sixties including the leather hot-pants worn by its chief rabble-rouser and the ninnies who run Toronto Pride are actually letting them get away with it!

Fierte Montreal succeeds because it is a cohesive organization and that derives from it being part of a socially-cohesive wider society.

However Pride Toronto is not condemned to perpetual bedlam:- there are stable gay organizations in Toronto which function much like Fierte Montreal such as ACT and others but they have evolved internal mechanisms to prevent hostile takeovers.

Unfortunately Pride Toronto is unlikely to ever stabilize and will eventually fizzle out as anyone and everyone with even a tiny bit of intelligence and ability learns the hard way to avoid it like the plague:- after the most recent gang of shit-disturbers gets done looting and pillaging it that will be the end of it and good riddance!

Incidentally the same factors which make Fierte so cohesive and successful also allow Montreal to support Le Village Gai which is the world’s biggest gay village and also essentially Montreal’s general entertainment district:- compare that to the pathetic brain-dead “gay village” in Toronto which comprises a few poky little gay bars serving grossly overpriced beer to straight-acting anglo-Canadian homo guys in jeans and baseball caps watching a bunch of frustrated drag-queens reluctantly cavorting on stage while fervently wishing they could be somewhere else.

Basically Toronto is like a big live-in cemetery populated by walking gravestones called “Torontonians”:- why spend your life playing dead when you can just move to Montreal and live again, yes there is life after Toronto!
