DOUBLE SCOOP :: I’m veering away from music mode to celebrate my favourite treat, which in turn is celebrating a cause important to so many: same-sex marriage. But first, some back story: I love Ben & Jerry’s ice cream. I worship it!
Onwards. Aside from being the best damn ice cream – ever! – Ben & Jerry’s latest flavour commemorates same-sex marriage strides in the UK with “Apple-y Ever After” (available only in the UK), a re-naming of the previously known flavour, “Apple Pie”.
After same-sex marriage was legalized in Vermont B&J changed the name of their “Chubby Hubby” to “Hubby Hubby”. I don’t know about you but the original could have been left alone to its own also appropriate gay-friendly moniker, or would that have been too subversive?
What I find endearing about my beloved cold, smooth, indulgence is that when things get bumpy in my relationships there’s always Chocolate Therapy. If things get really rough and the need to get away is strong there’s a trip to New York Super Fudge Chunk.
Oh yes Ben & Jerry’s – you are a brand I appreciate because you get involved in social causes, dare to be different, and initiate innovative ways to improve the quality of life locally, nationally and internationally – all with flair and flavour.
More Miss Raquel here!
