WHO RUNS THE WORLD :: “My hope is that gays will be running the world, because then there would be no war. Just a greater emphasis on military apparel.” – Roseanne Barr
The way you get going each morning can make or break your day (the way your days currently unfold is the proof). Developing daily rituals for success will help you get your day started off right; a few simple routines, and you rocket to new levels of performance and results. These are six of our favourite first-thing rituals:
- Put together a daily reading list on topics related to your passions. We favourite Twitter posts we like all day and do the actual reading of them over the next morning’s coffee.
- Make hydration a priority. Start each day with a big glass of water. We also keep a huge jug in the office at all times, filled with lemon slices, mint and cucumber to keep the hydration up.
- Get moving! A little exercise will get you pumped up and energized. (Great excuse to get a dog.)
- Take five minutes to reflect on the things you’re grateful for and keep in mind their importance. TheGGN publisher Shaun Proulx is infamous for this one; writing a daily list of positive aspects is practically company policy around here.
- Get your priorities straight. Think strategically each morning about your top priorities & make a to-do list. This is especially key if you start feeling overwhelmed.
- Develop a routine and stick to it. It takes 21 days to create a habit, so building new positive habits into your life only takes three weeks to become ingrained.
